The Year of The Horny Goat

You may and may not have heard about Horny Goat Weed. Yes, it is said to be just as it sounds. The name is famously founded by the goat herder who discovered his goats feeling more frisky while grazing on this type of herb, and that’s where this famous name comes from.

Since then, many studies have been published on the effects of Horny Goat Weed and more importantly the ingredient found within it, that is icariin.

As for performance, studies show that icariin can help to dilate the arteries in the penis, allowing for proper blood flow (1). Pharmaceutical drugs are much powerful than icariin. However, they also come with a long list of potential side effects. Best to go with natural organic horny goat weed supplements.

Horny Goat Weed, an eminent Chinese herbal medicine (also known as Epimedii Herba or Ying Yang Huo), is widely used to treat various diseases such as coronary heart disease, impotence and osteoporosis, and rheumatism (2) (3).

Chinese medicines dry the leaves and use them as herbal teas to help detox the body and provide the body with nutrients. One of the effects icariin is studied for, is it’s potential benefits to increase and improve sexual drive (4) (5).

If you are a man who has suffered from erectile dysfunction, then you most likely have heard about PDE5 inhibitors from a medical standpoint; that being in the form of doctor prescribed erectile dysfunction drugs or most commonly referred to as; the blue pill, which are designed solely to act as PDE5 inhibitors (6).

Icariin Horny Goat Weed excels within the ‘male impotence arena’ because it naturally increases ones level of nitric oxide transmission, without presenting any of the adverse side effects of prescription PDE5 inhibitors (7) (8) (9).

If you aren’t looking to drink your herbal teas, another easy way of getting your daily amount of horny goat weed is through tablets or capsules. This makes it even easier to consume and get on with your day.

The benefits of icariin doesn’t just stop here, studies have shown that icariin can boost free testosterone, or circulating t-levels, while improving the condition of the reproductive organs (10) (11).

Research indicates that high levels of testosterone are correlated with increased sexual desire in ageing males and females, suggesting that icariin may act as a natural aphrodisiac in individuals with diminished libido (12) (13).

Now that’s more than one reason to have your tongue out this year.
